My favorite photos from Chris de Bode's Children Dreams Around the World

I loved the idea and I think the photographer Chris de Bode, really managed to capture them and their dreams, the photos do communicate that and the captions are amazing, as they allow you to connect personally with this children.

There were many photos that I liked, specially, the one of boy who wants to be a doctor, the Afghan girl standing on the podium, or the refugee boy who is right in the other side of the border, they’re all so beautiful and touching, as well as their stories.

But talking about the image itself, the one that I like the most was the one of 11-year old Wilberforse, from Uganda. Aesthetically, the image is beautiful. The way he composed it, from a high angle, with the vanishing point of the road, and bit of sky with those amazing clouds, the green contrasting with the orange, it’s simply gorgeous. And the reflection of the boy in the little pond is jut the cherry on top. I believe this image captures perfectly the boy’s dream to be “the fastest man in the world”. It means a lot since he comes from a country with poor resources to support boys like him in an athletic career. He must not have access to proper training or even running shoes, but he still runs everywhere and doesn’t give up. As well, there are a lot of stories of boys like him from Uganda who have had the same dream and since they are all their life walking or running big distances from a village to another, sometime just to get water, they have become even Olympic medalist, mostly long distance runners.

And I just wanted to make a bit of an honorific mention to this picture, because I think it’s so beautiful and it has my favorite caption. Her story really resonated with me a lot because there have been many times were I myself have wished for the same, to be able to fly high and be with the people I have lost. I believe her dream is so innocent and beautiful. It really moved me.
